BPA and City of Austin May and June, 2022 Activities

Community Leaders,

There is still time to influence how our city will invest the first round of Project Connect anti-displacement funding. We need your help to ensure that the voices of those most impacted are centered in these decisions.

Applications for the Community Initiated Solutions evaluation panel are due this Friday, May 20. The community panel is an innovative and meaningful opportunity for community members to help guide Project Connect anti-displacement funding.

Join Us for a Fun Family Resource Fair!

Austin Energy will have local vendors providing information about social services in our community along with vaccinations and other health support services. Discover ways to lower your monthly utility bill through the City of Austin’s Customer Assistance Program. And enjoy a live performance by Bidi Bidi Banda – a Texas Tribute to Selena!

Our 2022 Juneteenth event, Freedom Fest, is intended to be a high-energy and interactive family-friendly event that begins after the Juneteenth parade concludes. The Freedom Fest will feature; a BBQ pit-master competition, sling-shot showcase, children’s activities, a showcase on our Soul of the City Freedom Fest Sound Stage of local musical artists, local food trucks, and an opportunity to connect with the very people that make up the essence of the Eastside all on the grounds of the Colony Park.

Black leaders and professionals from across the region and beyond will gather at Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin on Friday, June 17th, for uniquely curated professional and personal development and networking opportunities designed to refresh, restore, educate, and maximize connections.

Deeply rooted in and designed to enhance the Black experience, the Black X Conference can serve as a tremendous asset for employer recruitment and relationship-building efforts, as well as an entry point into the AALI network and Greater Austin ecosystem.
