ERIC BYRD

Eric is a dedicated professional with a rich and diverse background in mental health, rehabilitation, and social advocacy. For 15 years, he devoted himself to serving and mentoring institutionalized youth, foster youth, and traumatized children facing social and cognitive disabilities. Eric’s interest in the understanding of human behavior led him to earn a Master’s degree in Education, specializing in behavioral analysis and modification.

In 2020, during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and a significant period of civil unrest following the tragic murder of George Floyd, Eric demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Chief of Staff for Austin’s District 1. With a commitment to public service, he managed the operations of the city council office, overseeing planning, project management, visioning, policy research, and analysis. Through his astute financial management, Eric directed the allocation of funds within the office budget. He also played a pivotal role in shaping policies related to health, public safety, culture, and the arts, providing valuable insights and delivering briefings to City Council members.

Currently, as the owner of Vision Innovation and Management, Eric spearheads a growing consulting practice. His expertise lies in assisting agencies seeking to transform their systems and practices with a focus on equity. Eric’s consultancy has been instrumental in driving significant positive change by addressing critical areas such as the reformation of the Texas child welfare system, criminal justice, environmental justice, and affordable housing. His passion for social change and dedication to empowering the under-served have made him a respected advocate in the field.

In addition to his consultancy work, Eric assumed the role of acting President of The Man in Me, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering healthy fatherhood and promoting strong, thriving families. Through this role, he actively contributes to their mission and advocates for positive male role models. Furthermore, Eric serves as the esteemed President of the Black Professional Alliance, a dynamic organization committed to creating and expanding opportunities for Black professionals within the Austin Area.

Eric’s remarkable journey is defined by his commitment to empowering others, championing social justice, and fostering inclusive communities. His extensive experience, combined with his deep empathy and passion for creating a brighter future, make him an influential force for positive change.
